Alojz Donoval and Kamil Kubicek have been producing DOHIKU Barbless Hooks since 2006.
Their friend, Igor Hríbik, was the first to fish with and test DOHIKU hooks, providing vital feedback on their quality. Together, these Slovak fly fishers designed the hooks' signature shape, drawing on their collective knowledge and experience to create unique, original barbless hooks. For these men, fly fishing is more than just a sport; it is a lifestyle and a passion. Since the original design, the hooks have continued to evolve with great enthusiasm. DOHIKU s.r.o. guarantees that these are original hook designs. Many companies selling barbless hooks simply buy them from a catalog and rebrand them. That is not the DOHIKU way. DOHIKU hooks are original! They stand out because they were exclusively designed by DOHIKU experts in Slovakia and tested by top-tier anglers, as well as everyday fishermen. They are then manufactured according to these custom designs at the world-renowned MARUTO factory. DOHIKU hooks are made from high-carbon steel, hardened and tempered according to a demanding formula that ensures long-lasting durability. Naturally, they are chemically sharpened. DOHIKU hooks are original, custom-made products—not repacked or rebranded versions.
In 2009, Milan Styk, a friend of the original partners, joined DOHIKU to help maintain the high quality of these unique hooks. Milan is both a great fly fisher and an excellent businessman, and his skills have helped promote the hooks. Today, DOHIKU barbless hooks are recognized worldwide, thanks in part to the efforts of Milan Styk.
